<p>The long-standing US open record for the longest match ever has been broken. It took an epic battle between Britain's Dan Evan and Russia's Karen Khachanov 6-7(6), 7-6(2), 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 on Tuesday (August 27). The five-setter marathon match went on for 5 hours and 35 minutes. At the end of it all the Brit had the has laught and came back from a 0-4 defecit to secure his final in the second round.</p> <p>Evans, ranked 184 in the world, broke the previous record set by Sweden's Stefan Edberg in 1992 when he beat American Michael Chang in the semifinals. That match had lasted 5 hours and 26 minutes.</p> <p>In what was a closely-fought encounter, Evans was up there with his service game which a stat of 14 aces is enough to testify.
